Senior Manager/Supervisor

A very well-known hotel is currently looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Controller for the establishment to oversee the financial operations of our 200 room hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, proficiency in various accounting software, and a thorough understanding of financial processes. The Controller will play a key role in budgeting, account reconciliation, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and be a part of the hotel's Executive Committee. Must hold valid authorization to work in Canada. No relocation packages available.

Duties

  • Manage all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Oversee account reconciliation processes and perform detailed account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities.
  • Utilize accounting software.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning.
  • Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Forecasting and budgeting.
  • Food and beverage banquet billing and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead the development of financial policies and procedures to streamline processes across departments.

Skills

  • Previous full service hotel experience required. Experience with a large hotel brand and a unionized environment will be strong assets.
  • Proven experience with accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, accounts payable/receivable management, payroll processing, and budgeting.
  • Excellent account reconciliation and account analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external auditors.
