 A local success story Environmental Company is currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join their tight knit accounting team.  

 

 

  • Support the full-cycle accounting function in a multi-entity environment, ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with ASPE, including consolidations and intercompany/flow-through reconciliations.
  • Strengthen the month-end close process by driving accountability, improving close timelines, and ensuring the timely, accurate completion of reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting deliverables.
  • Provide hands-on technical accounting support to the team, serving as a resource for complex, unusual, or non-routine transactions and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and documentation.
  • Review and aim to enhance existing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve accuracy, consistency, and efficiency across the function.
  • Support the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting, ensuring deadlines are met and outputs are complete, accurate, and decision-useful for senior leadership.
  • Partner closely with accounts payable, invoicing, and broader finance staff to elevate performance, clarify responsibilities, set expectations, and support ongoing development.
  • Perform detailed financial and variance analysis, identify root causes of issues, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements to support stronger operational and financial performance.
  • Support the Director of Accounting and CFO with timely responses to financial reporting matters, operational questions, and ad hoc analysis for leadership decision-making.
  • Identify process gaps and drive initiatives to streamline workflows, optimize resource utilization, and improve the overall effectiveness of the accounting department.
  • Maintain compliance with internal standards, technical accounting requirements, and best practices while fostering a disciplined, control-oriented accounting environment.
  • Contribute to team leadership and performance management by helping establish objectives, monitoring progress, and reinforcing a high-accountability culture within the finance team.
  • CPA
  • Proven Assistant Controllership experience
  • Proven experience connecting analysis to solving problems
  • Netsuite would be helpful
  • Process improvement
  • Fast learner
  • Not afraid to question the status quo
  • Inquisition / no assumptions.

 

 Experience in a project-based consultancy would be very helpful.

 Knowledge of accounting process around controlling interest in partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • CPA
  • Proven Assistant Controllership experience
  • Proven experience connecting analysis to solving problems
  • Netsuite would be helpful
  • Process improvement
  • Fast learner
  • Not afraid to question the status quo
  • Inquisition / no assumptions.

 

 Experience in a project-based consultancy would be very helpful.
